Description

The sophomore release from a master of smart, indie, power pop.

Notes

Award-winning Minneapolis based producer / songwriter Owen Sartori may have recently traded his place on stage for a seat in front of the recording console, but that hasn’t stopped him from creating an ambitious self-produced follow up to his 2008 debut label release, “Another Beautiful Day in the Cube.” Though he played most of the instruments on the new record himself, he brought in former bandmates Carolyn Gleason (Keys/Vox), Mark Messina (Drums), Reuben Thompson (Bass) and Jake Torkelson (Guitar) to help complete the project. The new record entitled “Nobody Gives a Damn” is a guided exploration of powerpop and synthfolk; a collection of unreleased songs from his years supporting his last record, and new, experimental modern rock creations.

Press and Reviews for “The Cube”
"Catchy and polished, Cube’s glossy adult contemporary-pop should interest fans of Dan Wilson or Michael Penn...” - The ONION

"Here's a find. This Minneapolis popster has come out of left field with a sophisticated yet poptastic disc that will have fans of everyone from Ben Folds to Jason Falkner to Josh Fix excited... An extremely promising debut." - ABSOLUTE POWERPOP

“A well-produced, well-crafted set of songs from a veteran of the trenches of the music recording business... Owen Sartori has earned his chance to be heard.” - Slim Dunlap, The REPLACEMENTS

"Here's an early frontrunner for album of the year... It's a mini-masterpiece of power-pop songwriting, and Sartori's got a gift for dropping memorable melodies in all the right places. It goes to show ... some albums require multiple listens before you start to fully appreciate their greatness." - THIS IS WHAT WE DO NOW

“Heartfelt, self-reflective lyrics. Hair-raising chord changes and melodies... Sartori has made a timeless and original pop record that manages to capture the vibe of an era.” - Adam Levy, The HONEYDOGS

“...cleverly written and well-performed tunes that demonstrate a strong knack for melody and a penchant for tongue-in-cheek humor... Owen showcases a cerebral sense of humor and strong commercial appeal that can help to brand him as a performer to watch.” - The MUSE’S MUSE

"Twin City's Owen Sartori... strikes out on his own with a killer bunch of hook filled songs on his solo debut! "Go On" rocks just as hard and with just as much melody as anything on "Rockin The Suburbs"... An excellent debut, and sure to be on many a "best of" lists..." - POPBANG RADIO
