Description
This is where it all started. This collection of Cinecyde’s 45s and EPS, originally released from 1977 to 1980, includes their groundbreaking single “Gutless Radio,” which is considered to be the first punk rock record released out of Detroit. A scathing attack on the lameness of ‘70s radio, “Gutless Radio” was followed up by the EP “Black Vinyl Threat” featuring four songs including “Rock Meat And The Hard Ons” with its satirical death threat to a Detroit radio programmer (who took it seriously). Next came “Positive Action” including “Radiation Sickness,” with its lyrics and blistering guitar, suggesting a possible nuclear solution to the Detroit’s political corruption (Cinecyde would flesh the subject matter out further in “Better Dead” from their 1981 album “I Left My Heart In Detroit City;” “Behavior Modification” and its all-too-real warning of mental manipulation by the media; and “Phosphorus And Napalm,” Cinecyde’s gleeful ode to death and destruction -- definitely not for wimps
