Spontaneous Creation is the result of an improvised session that happened on Leap Day 2012, between cellist John O’Keefe (John O’Keefe, Apalachee Trio) and bassist David W. Cobb (Apalachee Trio, Maharajah Flamenco Trio). The title refers to Stephen Hawking’s concept of the manner and moment of the universe’s creation. Cobb and O’Keefe pay homage to this moment when an infinite number of possibilities exists and only with the unfolding of time does the outcome become known; a parallel to the nature of improvised music.
