Description
Electrified funkiness, with a whole lotta' stuff thrown in for taste.
Notes
Chip Ratliff's "Electric Chittlin' Stew" is best described as "electrified funkiness, with a whole lot of other stuff thrown in for taste." Whatever it is...... it's all good! The "stew" is and eclectic fusion of Funk, R&B, Latin, Rock, with a little accent of Jazz to bring out the flavor. The songs are energized, groovy, danceable, and sometimes thought provoking, with a strong pop sensibility. Served just right to make you want to dig in again and again!
Bassist, singer, songwriter and producer, Chip Ratliff, has been performing and composing for over 25 years (since the age of 6). Unlike most kids, Chip knew he wanted to be a musician at an early age. Growing up in the Englewood and Pullman districts of Chicago's Southside, funk, R&B, and rock music permeated his home. He grew up listening to music legends such as James Brown, Sly & The Family Stone, The Jackson 5, Funkadelic, Santana, Prince, and many more. Chip's grandfather played and sang with legends such as B.B. King in the late '40s. Ironically, it was at age 16, while trying to play the drums, that Chip's father "suggested" that Chip take up the bass. Chip says, "It just pretty much came down to the fact that the drums were just too loud to play in an apartment! So, my father and I went down to the music store and bought my first bass for $100. I started playing it, fell in love with it, and the rest is history."
While Chip Ratliff wears many hats for this project, he is joined by Patrick T. doody (former 10-year veteran drummer for the Lonnie Brooks Band) as the CD's Co-Producer. It's a combination of talent and experience that makes "Electric Chittlin' Stew" an even more tantalizing dish!
