Description
"It's like acid jazz on Valium...instrumental radio pop - fixed." I took melodies I liked from Pop classics and composed new tracks using warm, virtual instruments to create an hour of experimental jazz that will make the mornings fly by.
Notes
Optimus on his album:
"13 Top40 Songs - fixed" was created entirely with virtual instruments. I took 13 songs that have caught my attention in the past and removed all of the parts I felt made the song sound stale after being played over and over. I looked at each track heavily and grabbed the elements I felt really defined the song - minus the vocals, of course. I then restructured those melodies to fit an ambient environment using computer-based sequencers and software synthesizers. It started out as a few experimental jazz pieces and steamrolled into an album a month later. I hope you enjoy hearing a new take on of the radio's self-defined classics.
A Memo for You:
I really think you'll find this to be one of the most unique blends of jazz, electronica, and hip-hop that you've heard in a while. Your input is important for me to develop as an artist, so I'd like to offer a free copy of my upcoming album, Stereo Pipe Dream, for anyone willing to do a few lines of review. Just click the "email Optimus" link on the left sidebar and send me your address.
I'll send you a pre-release copy; you can give it a listen and email me a few lines. I'll then add your name to the liner notes as a media consultant, and you can write off all of your cdbaby.com purchases on your taxes as business expenses for your sole proprietorship CD-Review service. Cool, huh?
Stereo Pipe Dream is different than this album. The jazz in 13 Top40 Songs comes from the arrangement of polarized rhythmic melodies. The jazz in Stereo Pipe Dream comes from improvised electronic instrumentation. It's a different collection of sounds, but will surprise the repeated listener with developing windows of universal overtones.
It's the first of my albums to also feature multiple vocal tracks using a TC Helicon Voiceone Modeling Processor to create a spectrum of digital characters as guest singers. I predict reviews to be across the board, but I am an Optimus.
Check out "13 Top40 Songs -fixed," and if you buy two, the second one's only $5 -- throw it on eBay for $15, and you just made a free album! "It's a deal, it's a steal, it's the sale of the f_cking century!" - [fat] Tom, (Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels).
