Notes
In The Tale of Cupid & Psyche, the Oracle of Apollo prophecies Psyche's marriage to "a fierce serpent, who flies high above the firmament," and as the guests weep at her wedding, Psyche gathers her courage and lets the wind sweep her off to her husband's palace, and to her fate. Story adapted from Lucius Apuleius' The Golden Asse. This is the second work in a cycle called Two Operas about Love, two short electronic operas composed for live voice and pre-recorded electronics. For this recording, synthesized voices have been used in place of live performers. Libretto and music by Cynthia Sternau. 46 min. Composed in 2000 and revised in 2011. CDBaby release April 2014.
