Notes
Review: Disaster Action Team
It's a pleasant ride over the bumpy hills that Disaster Action Team lead you through; a drive through the country in a carriage with a good pair of shocks. Formerly known as Outrider, the five members of DAT take things relatively easy, strumming their way through songs like Elliott Smith homesick for the country, or Paul Simon getting back to four-track basics. They weave winsome violins through songs with long, mournful faces, sing like city desperadoes with heavy hearts and pluck guitars so gently you start to wonder if they're playing lullabies. You wouldn't think you could recreate the feeling of a down homey, backwoods stroll from a dank basement with a Lo-Fi recorder, but a listen to these songs and you're almost there.
Similar artists: Pernice Brothers, Wilco, Elliott Smith, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan
