Description

Dave Kenney has created unique, cinematic, epic musical settings; from action battles to fantasy woodlands. This imaginative music is great for exciting listening, gaming and dreaming.

Notes

Composing this powerful, fantasy music brought me a lot of joy and excitement. It allowed me to stretch my imagination and explore different ways to use the voices, orchestra and different sounds. I focused on creating a different setting for each piece and many times I will research the setting that I want to create. I refer to this as my "musical theaters".

For example, when I wanted to create Celtic battle music I discovered there was a battle in Ireland between the Irish and British at a place called Athlone , in my mind I saw it and composed The Siege at Athlone.

Along the same lines I wanted a fantasy setting and discovered a short story called The Golden Key. It is about a young boy who is told about a golden key in a rainbow. The boy begins his quest and meets a young girl and together the story unfolds. Go online and check it out.

The Weeping Buddha is a tragic story of a man who fights a young masked man. The masked man is slain , however as it sadly turns out, it was his son who was masked and the surviving man becomes the Buddha.

When I composed the very sensitive The Death of a Swan Child I actually cried and still feel for this young lost spirit. The piece is very impressionistic and as such I was influenced by Debussy.

The music for Past Lives allowed me to visualize the history of humanity as well as places all over the earth. The piece ends in Africa which many believe was the birth place of us all. I used a short African choir sequence to depict this moment.

I truly hope you enjoy this music, it means a lot to me. Dave
