Description

This "walk on the dark side" is cinematic, imaginative, and powerful, which makes it great for gaming, listening or setting seductive midnight mood. The music uses voice, choir, orchestra, metal guitar, powerful drums, and contemporary sounds.

Notes

The Shape Shifter piece is more than just a musical image of one able to change their physical form, it is also the morphing of the music from a classical orchestra to a intense metal ensemble. It begins with an ominous flute melody and bells followed by a powerful entrance of the orchestra, thunder drums and solo female voice. Gradually a choir, metal electric guitar, bass and drums are introduced to keep the pulse growing and growing.

The Seven Deadly Sins begins with a distant witch’s chant was inspired by the witches in Macbeth. This is followed by a slow dark brass which then quickly leads into a quick tempo with the orchestra and drums supporting a choir singing a middle European like folk song written by Dave.

Greek mythology is always a great place for inspiration and such is the case of The Fall of Achilles. The powerful music begins with thunder drums and solo female voice. To compliment the mood a full choir enters with the orchestra. I used the brass to underscore the drama associated with the legend of Achilles. When you read the stories of him you wonder, did he get defeated because of a wound to his heel, or did he die because of his ego?

The Daughters of Oceanus is my depiction of the Oceanids or sea nymphs. It is very impressionistic and the music of Debussy had a lot of influence on me. It begins with a mysterious setting using woodwinds, solo female voice, sopranos/ altos voices and harp. Later a solo cello enters followed by a solo flute and orchestra.

The Gates of Valhalla is my take on the entrance to the enormous hall in Asgard. The music opens with slow dark strings and a french horn but quickly moves into fast pulsing mayhem. The low cellos, bass, electric guitar, drums and full choir provides the undercurrent of Valkyries leading the fallen to Odin.

Dante’s Descent is a dark musical voyage of Dante’s journey through the circles of Hell. My music however keeps the story in hell rather than his eventual escape. It begins with demon like sounds and a Latin chant. This is followed by a Goth power chord electric guitar, bass, choir and drums. Dark brass adds to the scene and as the piece develops chant is re-introduced with the piece concluding with gongs and chaos.

Please note that all of the music was recorded using computer generated software and composed and recorded by Dave Kenney.

I really hope you enjoy this dark but exciting journey.
