Description

100 Parts of Heart taps into deep and daring, painful yet hopeful emotional places in Nick Binkley’s musical soul, featuring songs he penned in the wake of 9/11 and the sudden passing of his beloved wife, Diana, in 2003.

Notes

Nearly two decades after releasing Pin Stripe Brain, his critically acclaimed 1996 debut as a singer/songwriter, Nick Binkley released his third album 100 Parts of Heart, an extraordinary collection that taps into deep and daring, painful yet hopeful emotional places in his musical soul, sharing songs he penned in the wake of 9/11 and the sudden passing of his beloved wife Diana in 2003.

The album, which taps into the unexpected beauty that emerges through the grief process and the ability to process loss without losing hope, marks the latest release from PSB Records, a San Diego based label that has released and promoted recordings for Southern California artists for two decades.

All net proceeds from the sale of 100 Parts of Heart and licensing of its songs, as well as PSB Records, will go to The Diana Padelford Binkley Foundation (www.dianafoundation.com). The Diana Foundation was established in 2004 as a charitable institution focusing on pain management in women and the potentially dangerous neuropsychiatric side effects of high dose steroid therapies.

In addition to his musical accolades and success, which include many years of fronting Nick Binkley & The Street Dogs, a band made up of Soviet émigré musicians, numerous performances in Russia and on Russian TV, his first release, Pin Stripe Brain and his second album Let The Boy Jam, Binkley has led a successful parallel life as a veteran banker, venture capitalist and international policy wonk for the past four decades.

Binkley launched his banking career with the Middle East Petroleum Division of Chase Manhattan in Beirut, Lebanon and launched his first band in Southern California, recording and performing at the legendary Palomino Club while working as VP of the corporate banking group at Security Pacific Bank.

From 1983 to 1993, Binkley served as a member of the investment committee of Security Pacific Corporation’s Venture Capital Group, which led him to form his own successful venture capital company, Forrest Binkley & Brown. He also served on the Boards of Directors of Security Pacific Bank, Bank of America and Union Bank of California.

Binkley also conceived and co-produced “Free To Rock,” a powerful 90 minute, star studded documentary film, directed by four time Emmy winning filmmaker Jim Brown, due for release in 2014. The film explores the previously untold story of how rock and roll contributed to the end of the Cold War and the collapse of Soviet Communism.
