Description

This relaxing collection of original instrumental music combines the cello and piano, and on several tracks, soft string arrangements. As many have said, this music does them "a world of good".

Notes

David writes: "Released May 1997. These 9 tracks were composed and recorded in stunning Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. These tracks are all originals of mine and include simple cello and piano duets as well as arrangements with added strings. Many people call my style, 'Songs-without-words' and you'll understand why after hearing a track or two. My personal favourite is 'Sebastian' which was written to honour my cat and companion, Sebastian.

Many people have asked about the origins of the track, '80 Barrie Steet'. This is the name of a beautiful, historic tree-lined street in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. My dear grandparents on my dad's side lived at number 80. My maternal grandparents also lived in Kingston and much of my extended family lives there now. Thus the city holds many fond memories for me. My fans have been so supportive and due to them, this album has sold a couple of thousand copies."

~ REVIEWS ~

"Described as captivating, yet subtle and soothing, David’s cocktail of sweet cello, cool piano and warming keyboards delivers a fresh break amongst the so many canned new age nature albums of today. The nine original tracks contained within this disc range from the deep thought provoking cello melodies and enchanting classical piano improvisations of “One thing that we know” and “While waiting for Louise” to mid tempo uplifting piano themes somewhat reminiscent of a west end musical such as in “Sebastian” and “That Side not far”. The sheer depth and feeling in David’s cello performance is accurately captured in this superbly engineered recording, the richness and movement of fingers, bow and strings appearing clean and vibrantly front stage where appropriate. This is clearly demonstrated in the opening bars of “Rise Like the Sun” as the cello plays unaccompanied, surrounded by an eerie presence. Throughout this album there is a subtle yet tasteful use of keyboard orchestration, providing a warm presence and spaciousness to engulf the listener. A truly delightful listen both as a classic album in its own right, or as the perfect tool for unwinding and de-stressing. David Abramsky’s “A World of Good” comes with my highest recommendation."

"Your music is very gentle, subtle and soothing. I plan to use it in our workshops and private sessions...It's just the kind of music that is helpful to my work...it supports rather than interrupts the flow of my work with clients."
~ Tracy Harrison-Schleich, BSW, Dip.A.T., Winterwood Farm & Studio.

"Your CD is just wonderful!"
~ Marion Rolston, Ocean Wilderness Inn & Spa Retreat, Sooke, British Columbia, Canada.

"David Abramsky blends light classical, jazz and folk elements into nine cello and piano pieces in this CD. Many of the tracks, including 'Rise Like the Sun' have an inspirational quality to them that reflect his work as a composer of hymns. All the pieces are written and performed by Abramsky...Abramsky doesn't demand the ear in the way of such notables as Yanni and Philip Glass, but his work rises above the wallpaper music often heard in nature stores and at Tai Chi classes."
