Notes
American singer songwriter Tom Newton, always known for diverse musical creations, has released "Spirits Lifting."
Like rock and roll? Soft ballads? Acoustic grove? Heartfelt remembrances? Then lift your spirits with Spirits Lifting, the latest release by Tom Newton.
"Recently I've been moving away from electronically generated sounds, "Newton explains." I haven't abandoned electricity, but the purity of acoustic sound appeals to me more and more.I like the challenge of playing and recording the natural sounds." The entire collection supports his claim, but check Side-ways, Wanna go back, and the tittle track to sample the spare, cleaner sound Newton describes.
An edge to vocals(Gal dang girl) shows Newton's continuing musical maturation, perhaps due to greater exposure his music is getting. "with the net my music can get all over the world," he explains,"and I think that adds some positive presure to perform."
Sometimes its pressure, but other times a broken heart that inspires. Movin on is a tribute to Newton's father, Tyler T. Newton. This track pairs the acoustic sound with vocalizations that seem to cry and cheer for dear ol' dad.
The exposure generated by Newton's previous release, Hear Kandi, provided creative fuel for Spirits Lifting. Both collections show the range of musical styles Newton gets his hands around. To get your hands around Newton's tunes check out this offering.
