Born at home in the West Virginia Mountains to a single mother with seven children. In cold, stark poverty Ruthie named David after a popular short story called Just David by Eleanor H. Porter. The book is described as a story of an incredibly happy boy so David was born in the hopes of a mother during very desperate circumstances. As Ruthie struggled for definition and survival, she instilled in her children love, laughter, music and a lot of hard work. David followed in his mother’s example and used music and laughter to overcome hard times. Writing and singing his passion, he overcame severe shyness and began to bring his music to the public in Tucson, Arizona. Twelve years later, with the encouragement of his fans, he moved to Nashville to pursue his Music and dreams in earnest.
Just as his work began gaining interest from the music industry, he was dealt a devastating blow when his mother was overcome by debilitating Alzheimer’s. Because his mother had always loved and encouraged David he felt he was called to step back from his personal pursuits and take on the care his mother full time. For many years, with limited means and support, he worked tirelessly to ensure her comfort. When his mother passed he was overcome with grief and struggled to find the joy that music once brought him.
I have personally witnessed David’s unfaltering devotion to this difficult task. I feel it a pleasure to encourage him to publish his music and honor his mother by restoring joy and happiness to his life and share it with others.
It is David’s sincere desire that those who hear his music will feel the defining messages that inspired him…that, though life has many rough edges, hope prevails. May love and laughter pull the heart strings and make a connection with the listener. This work is dedicated to his sweet mother with the objective to bring you a step away from the loneliness that is in us all.
