One of the songs has words!!! Read on…
I started recording this CD after I lost my Mom a couple years ago. Two years later I had to say goodbye to my Dad too. Losing both parents in such a short period of time has left me feeling a bit un-anchored. While I am immeasurably grateful for my brother, my loving wife, and our two incredible children, I still find myself reaching for home.
I had the pleasure of playing and recording my late mom's Bösendorfer grand piano for this CD. This special piano was in my life for close to 30 years. It is one of the most responsive pianos I have ever played. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to capture its beauty.
I'm very excited about the last track on this disc called "I Miss You". I wrote this song for my Mom over a year ago. The melody came to me very easily but the lyrics presented a challenge. I had been struggling with exactly what to say for a long time. Finally on Mother's Day of 2014, the words flowed out of me almost faster than I could write them down. Before my Dad died, I was able to play him a rough recording of the whole song. I wish both my parents were still here to enjoy the music they inspired for this whole CD. Hopefully they can hear it from above.
