Notes

Ever felt really confused? No idea what to do next, drifting from one thing to another? Everything is great for a while then it all fizzles out, or just gets old and after a while you wonder if you will ever figure life out, or if this is just the way it is?
Well no matter how odd, weird or just plain ordinary you think you are, John Devitry’s CD brings home the point that there really is a place in this world for each and every one of us.

Background
In the 1980’s Devitry moved to the Gold Coast, the party capitol of Australia where he put together a band called The Turncoats who were quickly picked up by an agent with Australia-Wide Promotions. Before long The Turncoats were playing full time in the biggest venues along the Queensland and NSW coasts.
A chance meeting changed the direction of Devitry’s life. With a new vision and outlook on life, Devitry quit the band and bought a ticket to Los Angeles.
After basically failing High School in Canberra he surprised a lot of people when he graduated five years later in Engineering.

THERE IS A PLACE wraps 25 years of experience, from circuit guitarist to author, engineer, inventor and teacher into a dozen songs that build around the longings of the human heart and the search for something better.

You can for example find Devitry’s guitar on display at the Experience Music Project in Seattle, where it holds it own in a gallery that showcases the cherry red Gibson of AC/DC’s Angus Young and the glossy black and yellow-stripped Charvel of Eddie Van Halen.
