Notes

Celilo Falls [suh-LIE-low]
takes its name from an 8-mile stretch of waterfalls along the Columbia River that divides the states of Oregon and Washington. Since the building of the giant Dalles dam in the early ‘50’s, the once raging and bountiful Celilo Falls has been completely buried, submerged under the backwater of progress.

“A lot of this record is, for me, about what lies beneath.”

Mixing Harrington’s signature character-driven songs with ballads drawn from her own life, Celilo Falls portrays the West in both personal and mythical terms. Drawing from her roots in country and soul, the native Oregonian sings of the gothic western landscape, with Evan Brubaker’s production providing the lush riparian border.

Celilo Falls released in the UK and Europe in late 2010, debuting at #3 on the Euro-Americana chart and earning 4-star reviews at every turn. Following the 2011 release in the US, the album spent 5 weeks in the Top-40 in the Americana Chart and reaching the Top-10 on the Folk Chart stateside.
