Description

With their debut album, One Last Stand, the Glenn Thomas Band takes raw vintage rock and roll and adds complexity with haunting piano, organ, and upright bass.

Notes

If you like heavy guitar bands like Led Zeppelin or the Black Keys, then you'll probably like the Glenn Thomas Band. The band's first album, One Last Stand, takes raw vintage rock and roll and adds complexity with haunting piano, organ, and upright bass.

The band decided to release its first album on vinyl. “We understand most bands are focusing on singles,” says the band’s drummer Phil Mitchel, adding “but we made this album to be heard as an album.” “This album is heavy and has a really old-school feel to it, so vinyl just made sense. It’s because vinyl is a religious experience—the whole idea that someone pulls the vinyl out of the jacket, puts the record on, then sits and listens. That’s the way it should be,” says the band's singer, Glenn Thomas.

The Glenn Thomas Band hails from San Diego, California. In their live set, frontman Glenn Thomas switches between guitar and piano. Bass player Sam Johnson plays a 1950 upright that fittingly saw a lot of action in the early days of rock and roll. Phil Mitchel keeps time on the drums.

Their new album, One Last Stand, is available in digital and CD on the Fourth of July, 2015. The album is available in vinyl on September 1, 2015.
