The Fuzzy Bees

In perfect waves

“The earth has music for those who listen.” ― George Santayana

An ecosystem of songs, these diverse styles of music has been foraged from the talents of these bees. The debut full length, “In Perfect Waves” by the Fuzzy Bees has been organically grown. Producer Robert Martins had his mindset on recording natural instruments and letting the art flow through into the sound. Each song on this record comes from the individual writer and worked in collaboration with its players. The album flows through multiple influences from southern rock, “Chicken and corn”, to the psychedelic “Feel it coming”, city blues-ish “Everymove” to the alt-country “Don’t let them”. Sure it’s a broad gamut, but then again, so is nature!

Conceived in 2012, The Fuzzy bees started out when Mike Valiante paid a visit to Robert Martins in hopes he would produce some songs left on the shelf since his early days. With a cheeky response of “if I like it, I’ll do it”, they were able to get the ball rolling. Much to Mike’s efforts to being a solo artist, Rob strongly suggested that he get a band together for this project. First response for Mike was to call on life long friend and former band mate, Mario De Fazio. They worked together since the late 80’s and through the 90’s with their band Hol’Fader. Having won Chom 97.7 FM l’esprit contest in '96, they played Toronto, New York, LA, and Seattle and turned some heads in their heyday. Adam Passalacqua was Mike’s next choice for drums. He was first heard of by Adam’s uncle (Mike’s best friend Steve) when he was only 8 years old, boasted by his uncle that he could already cover Neil Peart and Stewart Copeland. By his early teens, Adam had already been performing in festivals with blues trio Runaway Slide. He was now ripe for picking and instantly integrated with these more mature musicians. Soon after sessions had begun, the obvious choice was to bring in the producer as a band member. Since all three older dudes were well-seasoned songwriters, it was only natural that they fuse their talents together and begin their buzz under the banner of The Fuzzy Bees

The Bees are all writers and usually sing lead on their own songs, Harmonies are a big part of the songs and their voices truly blend well together. Robert Martins (guitar and vocals) has a rock roots style that sometimes skews to the peripherals of mainstream, lending on PJ Harvey and Elliot Smith for source of theatrics and arrangements. Mario De Fazio (bass and vocals) can bring intricate threads from a huge Husker Du to Devo gamut. Two bands that help him forge his music since he was a teenager. Mike Valiante (guitar and vocals) dwells more into folk based arena rock, having John Lennon and Neil Young there to cut his teeth on. Adam Passalacqua (drums and keyboards), being on earth half as long as his peers, is a musical virtuoso. He can play any instrument in the rock and roll spectrum. He has a
keen interest in all that rock music history has to offer. We should be hearing his vocal talents soon enough.

On their first full length release The Fuzzy Bees have built a hive of folk powered pop bluesy psychedelic rock and roll.
