Notes
The Hotshot Freight Train formed in January of 2005 with the intention of creating music that reflects both the hardworking spirit of the people of Appalachia and a love of gritty rock n roll. Since signing with Future Destination Records in 2007, THSFT has released 2 full-length albums that have earned the band both local and regional attention. Recognized as East Tennessee’s Best Local Band by readers of the Knoxville News-Sentinel in 2010, the band’s sound can best be described as Narrative rock. Even the band’s moniker follows this theme, being derived from a common literary device used by beat poet Jack Kerouac.
It’s been over 2 years since the release of The Hotshot Freight Train’s last album, “Poetic Devices and Personal Vices”. What took so long? Life....the stories. The band’s new record, “Get Low”, is a collection of their stories. Not every one of the songs on this record is personal, but the hope is that every one of them is personal for someone. “Get Low” is THSFT’s tribute to home, family, and heritage. Part prayer, part confession, part protest.
Thanks for listening.
