Description
Original, classic, guitar driven songs with 3 part harmonies evoking soulful sounds of West Coast America, 60's British Invasion, Country-tinged melancholy Americana and English Indie. Intelligently crafted, bittersweet songs set to an infectious swagger.
Notes
In the summer of 2010, Nigel Brookes was joined by Graham Quirk, Ryan Miller and Ben Davis to form the band they had always wanted to form. Inspired by great guitar bands of the past, but with an eye firmly on the future, The High Cascades' brand of melancholy Americana evokes a seldom captured musical aesthetic.
While the band's sound is often visceral and immediate, their nuanced song driven melodies bear repeating and owe as much to a tradition of Great British song-writing as they do to the soulful sound of West Coast America. If their hard edged guitar sound and vocal harmonies evoke the ghosts of psychedelia, or the country/blues of The Rolling Stones and The Faces, they are tempered by the kind of acerbic lyrics of longing and heartbreak which could only have flowed from the pen of Lloyd Cole or Ray Davies.
