Description
Power-pop with a nod to early 80's New Wave and full of mesmerizing vocal harmonies.
Notes
Is it possible to reunite your teenage rock band after 30 years when the two members live 5,000 miles apart and haven’t seen each other in 14 years?
Thanks to the new globally connected world, The Debut have done just that!
When Huntington, WV teenagers Eric Eckhart and Bill Wildridge formed their rock band, The Debut, in 1984, they dreamed of being bigger than The Beatles. But after three years of great local success as a live band and releasing their own record, they folded like so many bands before and after.
Fast-forward 30 years and the pair decided to heal old wounds, reunite their band and see if they could relight their creative fire.
The difficulty arose from the fact that guitarist Eric Eckhart lives in Berlin, Germany and bassist Bill Wildridge in South Carolina. The two dealt with the challenges of being physically separated by emailing song ideas and demos back and forth and recording their parts individually.
On of the highlights of this year long project was when the song was finally finished and mastered at Abbey Road Studios in London, a dream come true for the two life-long Beatlemaniacs.
The result is their explosive and haunting new single, “Ghost” which is proof positive that these guys have lost none of their youthful spark.
A power-pop gem with a nod to early 80’s New Wave, “Ghost” captures the stunning vocal harmonies that made The Debut so memorable while lyrically exploring how our past continues to play a powerful role in our lives.
What comes next is anyone’s guess but The Debut have shown that it’s still possible to resurrect old dreams and make new ones in the process.
