Description

New Wave Punk combining ambient, ska, dance, and reggae music wrapped up in a non compliant sound.

Notes

The Brixton Guns’ self titled debut EP is an attack on the conventional music industry. Influenced by bands like Green Day, Black Flag, Tool spanning to The Police, Pretty Lights, and Coldplay, The Brixton Guns are no strangers to controversy. While their music is aimed at the sole purpose of expression and brutal honesty, it has developed a sound controversial in nature while the band’s live performances push the boundaries of traditional rock and roll with the raw energy of hardcore punk blended with the blissful ambience of Coldplay, the songwriting/reggae influence of The Police, and the party atmosphere of an electronic show. If you were to ask the 3 piece what describes their sound, they would immediately say “ambient dance ska punk, our ‘pop with nuts’.

Formed in December 2011, Cody Brubaker, David Bottelsen, and Greg Herburger dreamed of changing the face of music. Like previously stated, they desired to launch an attack on conventionalism in the music industry. Since then, The Brixton Guns have turned heads with engaging, energetic live performances and innovative promotional and marketing techniques. They have proved themselves relentless with their guerilla marketing techniques and constant desire to play anywhere, anytime. For example, one of the formats they released their music is on a Jack Daniels Bottle where a thumb drive of the EP is attached to the bottle cap and the album artwork has replaced the Jack Daniels label. The Brixton Guns are the definition of DIY Punk Rock.

People who have seen The Brixton Guns at a live show will always say that the show was filled with a party full of crowd engagement and the blend of everything that your mother would hate about rock and roll. They have played almost every DIY room in Denver to places such as Moe’s BBQ and Quixote’s True Blue.
