Notes
He was raised in the western Oklahoma where country music and its allusions to clean-living, honesty, and hard-work are more than just words...they are a way of life. Meet Brandon Butler, the artist and the man. Heavily influenced by the country music he grew up with, he is also partial to the classic rock-n-roll, gospel, and Motown hits that often emanated from his mother's radio as she went about her housework. He received his first guitar at the age of twelve that his father purchased for twenty dollars from a hitchhiker in need of some easy cash. Many nights were spent working that old guitar as he learned the chords and notes that would accompany his voice. The songs he learned and the stories they told became his lifeblood throughout his teenage years. Those early, formative years were spent singing and perfecting the vocal control that all great singers possess. It wouldn't be long before his opportunity would arrive that would allow him show his natural talent to the world. "The first time I was on stage before a live audience, I was seventeen I believe. My friend's mother invited me along to compete in a youth talent show in Liberal, Kansas. The thought of it was kind of scary, but I said to myself: 'why not...it might be fun'. Well I won the grand prize of the show that day, and needless to say I was hooked!" Shortly after high school while attending college, Brandon became the lead-singer and rhythm guitarist for a four-piece band in western Oklahoma and played the bars and honky-tonks all over Oklahoma and west Texas. These times allowed him to perfect his stage presence while paying his dues and many times, his bills..."I knew I wanted to be an entertainer, but also wanted to get a college degree. Daddy always told me to get my education, and then I could do anything I wanted after that. My folks couldn't help me much with the money, so my voice became how I made my living during those times." Life became a routine of going to school, doing homework, and playing the bars. Soon, word was out about the little country band with the talented singer. They were booked all over Oklahoma, into Texas, and Arkansas even playing such venues as the Lazy E arena of Guthrie, Oklahoma. After college, Brandon moved to Sallisaw, OK where he has family and still resides.
