Notes
The Texas Saxophone Quartet (and friends) recorded this unique collection of Christmas carols in 1990 - one of the first all-digital recordings of its kind recorded in Texas. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the rich, full sound of our saxophone choir and the crisp, clear sounds of the digital recording.
Since the Texas Saxophone Quartet was formed in 1983, its goal has been to perform chamber music of the highest caliber while providing an entertaining way for all audiences to discover a different, classical side of the saxophone.
The TSQ was the 1987 winner of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, was selected as finalist in the 1987 Chamber Music Chicago Discovery competition, and was also a semifinalist in the 1990 Concert Artists Guild open competition in New York. The quartet has appeared at musical conventions across the United States and has been featured with the United States Navy Band in Washington as well as local bands and chamber orchestras. The TSQ presents recitals each year at local universities such as SMU and the University of North Texas and entertains regularly at the Dallas Museum of Art.
The Texas Saxophone Quartet prides itself on its diverse repertoire, ranging from Baroque transcriptions and classical literature to jazz, ragtime and popular favorites. More than just a performing ensemble, the group actively commissions new works to add to its unique library and to the libraries of saxophone quartets worldwide.
