Crying Rivers (feat. DJ Axos)

The first multi-track album from The16thRegiment, and the product of the last several months!

Beyond the Sun-EP starts off with "Bark and Bite", which I can honestly say is my pride and joy of the album. The general idea for the song was developed in January and was worked on and revised until sometime in mid February. I actually did release it as an "unofficial" release to my fans on Jango.com in early February, before it was finalized, and sent a preview of it in its earlier stages to my exclusive fans (fans on the official mailing list) in January, but its final version was of course released along with the rest of the album in March. The most difficult part of the song was undoubtedly the second drop (around 3:15), and I spent over a week just testing out different sounds to drop into! Definitely happy with how it ended up... Second in Beyond the Sun-EP is "Crying Rivers (feat. DJ Axos), and is one of the three official pre-releases from Beyond the Sun-EP. Receiving over 110 downloads on Hulkshare.com before the album was even out, Crying Rivers gained a lot of support in the months prior to the album release! Though the song was composed and produced by The16thRegiment, it was based off of an original by Axos, hence the '(feat. DJ Axos)' in the final release.

Third in the album is "Beyond the Sun", after which the EP is named. The main reason this song is so significant is because, at the time of its composition, The16thRegiment took a few major steps "sound wise". For one, The16thRegiment began using NI Massive more prominently, along with Nexus, though a few new AUs were also significantly used. This is also the only song yet released by The16thRegiment which features vocals of some sort. As a side note, the song is also rather interesting because a few different genres are played around with, including trap and electro house, and also because of the song's 110 BPM tempo.

Number four is "Alive Again (feat. R3m1551on)", and like Crying Rivers, it is technically a remix. It was originally released around the web as "Alive Again-The16thRegiment Remix" on January 2nd of 2013, but as Beyond the Sun-EP developed, 'The16thRegiment Remix' was shortened to '(feat. R3m1551on)' in order to give credit.

Fifth in the album is "Ink-2nd Edit", named so for its obvious connection to The16thRegiment's 2nd single, "Ink". Production of the song started as far back as December 2012, but it was not finished until its "official prerelease" in January. Differences between the song and the original 'Ink' include, aside from a different feel overall, and different general theme, a change in BPM, moving faster from the original's 120 BPM to 128, the tempo of the majority of songs in Beyond the Sun-EP.

The sixth song in Beyond the Sun-EP is "How Often?", a repetitive DnB song with a question as its title. One of the official pre-releases, this song also accumulated several downloads and listens on Hulkshare prior to the full album's release. With 175 BPM, this song is by far the fastest song yet released by The16thRegiment. Due to its generally repetitive nature, yet high-potential chord progression, a second edit may be forthcoming in later albums.

The last official track in Beyond the Sun-EP is "Cute Binomial", and was the last developed of all the tracks in the album. The idea started in early February but didn't become reality until later in the month and was not finished until late February. Something interesting to note is that for nearly all the sounds in the song, I decided to merely edit many default instruments in my DAW of choice, GarageBand (as compared to using plugins like NI Massive), something I haven't done since "A Caccia Di Angeli" (June 2012).

Eighth, and finally last track in Beyond the Sun-EP is "Cute Binomial (Extended Mix)". During production of Cute Binomial, I realized that with an intro of nearly two minutes and thirty seconds, the mix was almost certain to bore some fans to death, especially fans favoring The16thRegiment's faster tracks. So, I decided to cut down the original, make it a little more exciting, and release it as "Cute Binomial". This is the mix before those edits, in the form of a bonus track.
