Description
Much like their live shows, there are instrumental pieces like Malaguena and beautiful ballads such as Ves Mi Amor. There are the classic ‘dance-your-behind-off’ songs that feature the furious and mind blowing guitar duo of Brian and Justin.
Notes
There has never been a question as to the quality of a Tesoro live show. Whether fully plugged in or performing as ‘Tesoro Light’ (acoustic, instrumental, etc.), the talent level, energy and pure joy in the music is not only obvious, but infectious. Due to this amazing ability, Tesoro was able to release three live albums successfully.
Tesoro has since topped that achievement. Knowing that the studio can be yet another instrument in a bands’ arsenal, Tesoro chose to work with acclaimed producer/engineer Jim Waters (Sonic Youth, Chuck Prophet, Lucinda Williams). Finding a real partner in Waters, Tesoro worked hard to create a musical landscape that entertains the listener from beginning to end. There is no ‘filler’ on their self-titled CD, Tesoro. It’s also interesting to note that the entire album is composed of original compositions, including their first English language song, Don’t Go Away, co-written by their new singer, Efisio Giordanelli.
Much like their live shows, there are instrumental pieces like Malaguena and beautiful ballads such as Ves Mi Amor. There are the classic ‘dance-your-behind-off’ songs that feature the furious and mind blowing guitar duo of Brian Scott and Justin Fernandez; such as Mirame Mi Amor and La Rumba de Tito. Also of note is the new song Mujer de la Luna which is featured on Zia Records new compilation, You Heard Us Back When, Vol. 8. Rhythm section Andrew McClarron (bass, Cajon) and Gabriel Kaiser (drums, percussion) create the perfect musical foundation, their cohesiveness on this CD that of Bonham and John Paul Jones caliber. All in all, Tesoro has proved that whether you are dancing in front of the stage, or listening in your car, they are an undeniable force to be reckoned with. If you miss out on Tesoro you have truly missed out.
