Description
Talk Rock's influences include The Jesus Lizard, Young Widows, and Mogwai while infusing these influences with angst-ridden riffs not uncommon among Midwestern hardcore music and noisy blues burgeoning in psychedelic rock. We are meant to be played loud.
Notes
Thunder like the hooves of manic buffalo stampeding across a plain of frozen stone builds in a basement. It cracks and groans and makes the earth shudder. Those who have heard it know it and seek it. They come to hear distortion, and let it rattle the marrow of their bones. They come to hear drum skins dent and feel their eardrums strain. They come to see speaker coils glow white with volume and illuminate a room of darkened eyes fixed on three men playing their instruments as if the devil demanded it of them. They come to experience Talk Rock.
Talk Rock began late in 2011 in the winter of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It consists of Ben Swank (guitar and vocals), Ryan Gage (bass), and Nate Perrion (drums); all of which are seasoned members of the Sioux Falls music scene.
Their sound borrows from bands like The Jesus Lizard, Young Widows, and Mogwai and infuses these influences with angst-ridden riffs not uncommon among Midwestern hardcore music and noisy blues burgeoning in psychedelic rock. All of these influences blend into an auditory assault that is at once tumultuous and focused, frantic and controlled, and loud as hell.
Talk Rock needs to be seen live with their amps loud enough to kill your grandmother. Their music is not intended for the faint of heart, and neither are their performances. Before an audience, they stand as men only aware of the sound they create and the rhythm that drives their heads to and from the earth, as musicians concerned about music rather than the bullshit of modern music, and as a band demanding attention the only way they know how: with ear splitting rock n roll.
