Notes

FOR STEPHANIE_TAD SISLER

This was to be the star-studded follow-up CD to Tad Sisler’s critically acclaimed 1993 release, “So Good To Come Home To”, but Tad’s beloved wife Stephanie died suddenly in February of 1995. Working through his grief, Tad completed many of the tracks on this offering, appropriately entitled “For Stephanie”. By the time the project was close to completion, the label had folded, and Tad shelved the project for many years. MAINSTREAM SOURCE is delighted to release this long-awaited CD for Tad’s audience in 2013.

This project is a blend of emotional palates, expanding upon the R&B flavored contemporary jazz/pop style of “So Good To Come To”, yet venturing into other realms as Tad moved from grief to hope and healing. Tad wrote or co-wrote all of the material on this project, and he brought in many of his friends in the industry to perform the material.

“Live To Love” has a reggae-flavored Clapton-ish vibe, produced by legendary composer/producer SCOTT FRANCISCO, with a vocal performance by TAD SISLER with SCOTT on guitars.

“You’d Be So Good To Come Home To” is a classic R&B track with an early performance by iconic vocalist LALAH HATHAWAY, sung even before she got her first record deal, and a rare performance by the late legendary Earth, Wind and Fire saxophonist DON MYRICK. This track was produced by legendary R&B producer LONNIE REAVES and TAD SISLER.

“Struttin’ With Maynard” is a contemporary jazz, funky, bouncy instrumental featuring Grammy-winning iconic saxophonist GARY BIAS of Earth, Wind and Fire, and Grammy-winning Stevie Wonder trumpeter STEVE MADAIO, with Pointer Sisters bassist GILBERT HANSEN.

“I Wanna Stay With You Forever” is a smooth Adult Contemporary/R&B track featuring Toronto-based popular female vocalist PAULA STAPLETON, with legendary guitarist MICHAEL HIGGINS.

“When Are You Gonna Run Free” features an outstanding vocal performance by BARRY MINNIFIELD and a solo by iconic trumpeter MICHAEL (PATCHES) STEWART of Al Jarreau and Whitney Houston fame.

“Moments Of Love”, written by TAD SISLER in the height of his grief from losing Stephanie, is a reminder of how precious each moment is. TAD SISLER provides the vocal, and MICHAEL (PATCHES) STEWART performs a soulful solo on flugelhorn.

“Joie D’ Vivre” is an excellent contemporary jazz instrumental featuring TAD SISLER on piano, with outstanding horn performances by Grammy-winning saxophonist GLEN MYERSCOUGH and legendary trumpeter MICHAEL (PATCHES) STEWART.

“I Guarantee My Love” is a sweet, soulful R&B ballad, featuring vocalist BARRY MINNIFIELD with an emotional saxophone solo by Grammy-winning GLEN MYERSCOUGH of Andrae Crouch & The Disciples fame.

“Two Fall In Love” is a sweet contemporary-jazz vocal track with a Latin flavor, featuring young vocalist HELENE IMMEL and guitar palates by legendary MICHAEL HIGGINS of Maynard Ferguson fame.

“Yash” is an uptempo, Latin funky contemporary jazz instrumental featuring MICHAEL (PATCHES) STEWART on trumpet and GILBERT HANSEN on bass guitar.

“I’m Goin’ With You” is a sweet adult contemporary track featuring PAULA STAPLETON on vocals, MICHAEL HIGGINS on guitar, excellent horn arrangements by trumpeter GARY HARTMAN and a powerful saxophone solo by Grammy-winning GLEN MYERSCOUGH.

“Dancing With My New Love” is a smooth jazz contemporary instrumental featuring TAD SISLER on piano, with outstanding soprano saxophone palates by legendary platinum Frank Sinatra and Sly & The Family Stone saxophonist PAT RIZZO.

“What Became Of Us” is a soft, reflective adult contemporary ballad with TAD SISLER on vocals and an emotional saxophone solo by Grammy-winning saxophonist GLEN MYERSCOUGH and horn arrangements by trumpeter GARY HARTMAN.

“The Magic Of Love”, lovingly co-written by TAD SISLER and his sister KATHLEEN SOFFER, features TAD SISLER on piano with Grammy-winning saxophonist GARY BIAS and Grammy-winning flutist GLEN MYERSCOUGH intertwining melodies in this contemporary jazz instrumental with easy background vocals.

“Until You Go” is a sad, sweet ode featuring an emotional vocal performance by PAULA STAPLETON and an easy flute solo by Grammy-winning GLEN MYERSCOUGH.

“Was Yesterday So Long Ago”, a sweet traditional male vocal jazz ballad, was written and performed by TAD SISLER as an offering to his friend Frank Sinatra, who Tad performed for in the 1980’s, featuring outstanding horn arrangements by GARY HARTMAN.

“Stephanie” is a soft, smooth jazz 6/8 beat instrumental featuring TAD SISLER on piano, Grammy-winning GLEN MYERSCOUGH on flute, and legendary saxophonist PAT RIZZO on soprano sax, with an intro cameo by trumpeter MICHAEL (PATCHES) STEWART.
