Notes
INSPIRATION. AUTHENTICITY. JOY. CONNECTION.
Some of us search our whole lives to uncover our true passion and purpose. And then there are people like Susan Arbuckle whose passion, purpose, and talent collide in such a way that something magical happens.
A native of Austin, TX, Susan took to the stage at an early age, and over the years, she’s established deep roots in blues and gospel music. Classically trained, Susan has gone on to lead, teach, perform, write and record music. Some of her original tunes have best been described as inspirational blues or “Light Blue.” Although, her reach goes well beyond blues and gospel, she has cultivated a powerful voice that spans everything from jazz and rock to aria and lullaby. It’s this versatility that has led Susan to share the stage with notable musicians, such as Ruthie Foster, Bonnie Raitt, Kris Kristofferson, Kelly Willis, Lloyd Maines, Shelley King, Patrice Pike, and Carolyn Wonderland.
Beyond her amazing stage presence, what makes Susan’s music so powerful is the passion behind it—and the understanding that her music’s true purpose is to connect, share, and promote the good that is in everyone. Her role is to, “Follow your Truth and other will be encouraged to do the same.” And, as a performer, it’s to tune into her audience and create an environment where everyone feels free to be themselves and have a good time.
“Music brings folks together across so many perceived boundaries, and I think that being versatile and flexible enables artists to connect with all types of people,” Susan says. “Hopefully, my music connects and sparks a common place within each of us. If that happens, we can all relate to each other on some level—no matter our history, our preferences, our status, or our goals.”
