Description

Down home rock and roll with a shot of blues

Notes

The different centers of inspiration that pepper this album is like taking a slice out of my life. I wrote the songs, I sang them and I played all the instruments and that brought me great joy and I hope that transposes to you all. I was a bass player to begin with and that bottom end is always drives what I do or at least hope to accomplish. Spent a lot of gigs playing aome serious Southern Rock and that cross cut of Americanna is another place I feel at home. Rock out...groove it slow...pick up the acoustic and get all down home. I love it. The first song (They Said Yeah)on the CD is my response to my friends putting on a benefit for me when I had my battle with colon cancer. I'm OK now but it was an amazing thing to see. I have been blessed with many wonderful things while trudging through this life. Pontchartrain started off as a refrain I couldn't get out of my head which led it a lot of work to make sense of it all. Sunshine on Your Face actually started from a Richard Pryorskit about a homeless man, I believe Hambone. It pretty much lays out what was going on and the last verse I wrote on my daughters porch looking up at the sky and listening to the wind. The next track (Fast Forward) is how I handle things when its not going quite right. Then there is the blues. The center of my universe. Lonely Man came from realizing its alright to be solo. I prefer solo as to alone. Alone is so lonely.....I perform solo as opposed to I perform alone...get it? Then there is "Oh How I Love That Girl". I used to go to a bar that these people kept playing Doo Wop Poodle Skirt stuff all night and it drove me nuts. That music makes no sense to me...so I answered with my own brand of Doo Wop. A little slanted perhaps...naughty? Its up to you. I go places and people request "that one song". No Mo Fo Sho I wrote in the van in the parking lot during my 3rd shift break. When I got to recording it all these other things came out. What a trip. Now my friend at KZUM was on the radio talking about making Green Bean casarole for Thanksgiving at the station (Cathy Berhns-Deja Blues) and proceeded to play a song about green beans...so I called her and said,"What about a cranberry sauce song" and she told me I have some work to do so...viola. Safe and Warm is my response to when I felt I had enough and I was going to walk away. 1 in a Million Chances, I ran into an old girlfriend who is and was a friend but that finishin touch never happened but something happened. I love music. I love to write. I love meeting people. I would love for someone to take one of my songs and make it their own or just play it and enjoy doing so. I hope you enjoy the music and the art work on the CD. My daughter Lindsy Brown knocked it out of the park for me. Take care of each other. Peace Love and Happiness to you all.
