Description
20th and 21st century Classical Chamber Music for different combinations of voice, piano, synthesizers and flutes.
Notes
Steve Lockwood is very honored to be able to include tracks of his own music next to a composer of the stature of Normand Lockwood. A two time Guggenheim Award winner and student of the renowned teacher Nadia Boulanger (see cover), he was among America's foremost composers during and after the war generation of the 40's and 50's. He wrote orchestral works, operas, chamber music, songs, and is probably best known for.his large collection of secular and sacred vocal music, including cantatas and oratorios.
One of the nicest features of this album is the different styles of vocal music that you'll hear between his works and Steve's. The gamut of 20th century compositional techniques is at play here. Also, if you're a lover of poetry, there are texts from the 16th century to the 20th century Japanese surrealism of Gozo Yoshimasu; (see Yuki-Yuki - track 17).
For those curious, there is no proven relationship between Steve and Normand Lockwood, although a chance at comparing makes it an interesting purchase. Why not?
