Notes
Steve Zocchi is a contemporary composer and pianist who writes in a nineteenth and early twentieth century style. There are hints of Chopin and Beethoven... even a little Mozart and Bach ... but all within a totally original idiom. This work encompasses the complete range of human emotion, from the greatest joy to the depths of despair. There is an emotional arch to the first ten tracks. The music becomes increasingly dark with each piece and then returns to the light as the CD progresses- although each compositions can be enjoyed on its own as well. The last four tracks of this album are jazzy improvisations, contrasting the more set-in-stone feel of the first ten. All of the pieces on this CD possess powerful energy and feeling.
