Description

The first full-length album has finally arrived, and it's absolutely massive. Part Daft Punk, part Aphex Twin, a little bit Pink Floyd and a little bit punk rock, this amazing new electronica album is sure to please. Get it in your head today!

Notes

I have been making electronica for over 10 years. I started in 2001, mostly as just something fun to do, making music with Acid Pro and playing the songs for my friends to make them laugh. As time passed, I realized I enjoyed making music much more than I had first thought. What started as a joke or just something fun to do turned into a serious endeavor. I've since graduated from loops and samples to making my own music with Reason, CoolEdit Pro, and some other smaller programs and vsts. I have since released 5 albums, free for download, on my DJ.Skagnetti website. I have done collaborations, made music for independent films, music for online tv shows, and tried to get my music out everywhere I could. I just kept making music. Finally, in 2008, I figured it was finally time to release an album for actual money, so I started working on Please Insert Me. As I tried to figure out which direction to go with it, I found that I had so much music laying around already I decided to release an EP first. So Feels Like 0 was born, a 60 minute EP made with some old and some new stuff I had been working on. I released it and it sold well, although it's difficult promoting yourself, making enough money to continue to get CD duplication, continue making new music, having a daytime job and a normal life. So I kind of put all the other stuff on hold and made music, as much as I could. I finally finished Please Insert Me around 2010, but a hard drive crash completely decimated my work. I lost a lot, but luckily I got the music out to Dustin Duffy of Apis Records right before it crashed (always backup your stuff, kids.) Dustin began mastering it, but several more life problems came and went and I had to put everything on hold. Well, finally back on my feet at the end of 2012, we resumed mastering and editing of Please Insert Me and finally completed it at the beginning of 2013. I really have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to distribution, so I've payed a few services to help me out, which brings me to this site.

My music is best described as electro, hard-hitting saw waves over tight beats. It also has a little bit of idm, glitch, breakbeat, drum and bass mixed in as far as electronica goes. I'm huge into melodies and harmonizing, things I've picked up from being a Pink Floyd fan as a kid and then later bands such as The Ramones, The Queers, Screeching Weasel, The Huntingtons, NOFX and others that are similar. I've kind of infused it all together, granted it's more electronica than anything, but I feel there are elements of those other bands as well. Each song, even the ones I don't sing on, feels like a song, not just a 4/4 beat, 120 bpm, loaded with builds, drops and steam effects but kind of leaves you feeling empty. Freeland released Cope in 2009, and the album just blew me away, and I realized that electronica is coming to the forefront of music, and it's not just techno anymore. They're actual songs, electronica with some rock, some hip-hop, some punk all mixed together, a new super-blend! Big name acts like Daft Punk, Lady Gaga and Skrillex are solidifying it into popular culture, and I'm very excited to see where it will go in the next 10 years.

Now, I'm in no way comparing myself with those groups, they are all great, and there's 100s of other great electronica acts I didn't mention, and I'm probably not as technically advanced as most of them are, but what I've created with Please Insert Me is a wonderful blend of electro, idm, and rock, just like my idols (and Lady Gaga and Skrillex.) There's fast songs, slow songs, great dance songs, insanely crazy songs, rock songs I sing on, sad songs I sing on, and just all around good music up and down. I hope you enjoy it!
