Description
If you like PRINCE, you should enjoy this musical mix of funky R&B, acoustic funk, reggae, slow jams, and a touch of blues, electronica and rock.
Notes
The Fellas is the brainchild of singer/songwriter Wodige Wehali (Wo'). It is a conceptual band, at least as far as musical composition and studio recording are concerned. Wo' writes the material, sings and performs on all of The Fellas albums. Prince is a major inspiration, and is an excellent example of the one-man-band.
Completely self taught, Wo' sings and plays a variety of different instruments, and doesn't read a note of music!!! Speaking of the music, it can be best described as eclectic, ranging from R&B to folk, with some rock and world beat thrown in the mix. Musical influences range from Prince to Bob Dylan and everything in between!
As a member of his local arts association The Contemporary Arts Exchange, Wo' often performs live with his friends as "The Fellas" during open gallery shows on First Fridays. First Friday is a local tradition when artists open their studios to the public, and musicians hit the streets.
