Description

A mix of rock, pop, & psychedelia, Down June has a truly unique brand of rock. Layered guitars and effects, beautiful vocal harmonies, and big, catchy choruses flow freely.

Notes

Songs that attempt to breathe fresh air in a sometimes otherwise stagnant room of rock music.....

What started as song writing sessions in the early months of 2004, between already established New England solo artists Kristin Clow and Ryan Sawyer, quickly became a musical marriage. It would also lead to the formation of what would be known as Down June.

Already prolific writers and multi-instrumentalists, the voices and styles of Ryan and Kris melded together with ease. A very short time later, Greg Capolino and Scott Rogers joined in, bringing with them their respective instruments of electric guitar and drums. After months of working on material and refining songs, they decided to record a self-produced album, with hired gun Sven Larson laying down bass. The recording process proved to be long and arduous, but the tension and attention to detail helped shape the record. Upon naming their debut album "Brookline" (the town where near countless hours were spent in the studio), and finding full-time bassist Dave Hanlon, the band known as Down June is ready to give their music to the world.

BIG guitar sounds flow throughout the songs, ranging from sweet & dreamy, to wide open & well crafted solos. Acoustic guitars are present in every song, keeping the music grounded with organic texture. Beautiful vocal harmonies grace every chorus with alternating male/female lead vocals. There are hooks that get stuck in the psyche of the listener, with songs that are dynamic, and hit the listener with everything from catchy pop melodies, to the angst and depression of a broken heart.
