Description
Fluid and steady modern jazz interpretations. Borrows heavily from acoustical elements entwined with hybrid melodys. A nice homage to world class motorcyclist Burt Munro as well. Downtown Landing makes way for a highly intriguing jazz record.
Notes
Words and Music by Everett Dennis
Produced by Everett Dennis and Karl Grossman
Horn Arrangements made by Karl Grossman
Recorded and mixed at Music Focus Studios
Hermosa Beach, Ca
Karl Grossman: second guitar solo on 'Moonshine'
first guitar solo on 'Toya'
Gary Ferguson: Drums
Everett Dennis: Guitars and Vocals
It took maybe more than 100 hours of accumulated recording time to complete this album, but it was well worth it. Sound quality is clear, and I thought the hybrid melodys came through nicely. Karl's horn arrangements were exceptional as usual. I also really enjoyed experimenting in 3/4 time. That was a first for me. But hey, no regrets. I love that steady meter. Steady as a train and sharp as a razor.
I might add I also really enjoyed Gary Ferguson's drumming on 'Philadelphia'. I could really hear how well he knew how to ride the snare on such an elaborate piece such as this. I hope it'll be enjoyed by many!!
