Description
These colorful melodies capture the feeling of a beautiful, warm autumn day, offering a light blend of contempary with a slight classical edge that is sure to win your heart.
Notes
Jean Hilbert\'s fascination with music began at the age of 6 when she began picking out melodies on her two octave xylophone. She began private piano lessons at the age of 7. She continued lessons throughout high school where she entered and won numerous solo piano competitions. She has also been a church pianist for 35 years. Her passion for music has continued to grow over the years and in 1994 she began writing and performing her own compositions. She also began writing orchestrations of her music adding other instrumentation to her lyrical piano compositions.
Her instrumental music has been aired on various radio stations across the country. She has peformed benefit concerts for Agape Christian School, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and the Sartori Hospital Festival of Trees as well as performing at the V.I.P. reception preceding a Bill Cosby performance. Jean has performed at various locations throughout the Cedar Valley as a solo pianist including the Cedar Falls Womens Club, Gallagher Blue Dorn Performing Arts Center, Debut Art Gallery, Farradays\' (Isle of Capri), Sunnyside Country Club, Elks Club, Centennial Oaks Country Club and PIPAC Events Center. In 2000 Jean teamed up with vocal recording artists Wade Brinkopf and Jeff Reynolds to form the Contemporary Christian group \"Reflections\".
The Edge of October is Jean\'s second professionally recorded instrumental CD. The project was recorded at Catamount Recording studios in Cedar Falls, IA. The album was produced and engineered by Tom Tatman who has a gold record and two grammy nominations to his credit. Jean has also recorded two other CD\'s with Tatman which features the group Reflections entitled \"Living in His Grace\" and \"Awesome Night\".
Jean continues to write and arrange music both for solo piano and for \"Reflections\". She performs at local events and charities both as a solo pianist and with \"Reflections.\" She is currently a Department Store Pianist at the Von Mauer store in Cedar Falls, IA as well as the Music Director at her church.
\"I like music that paints a picture and reaches in and touches a person\'s soul - whether it makes you laugh, cry, smile, sigh, dance or sit on the edge of your seat in anticipation for the next note. All of the songs on \"Edge of October\" were inspired by a particular moment or event that stirred a different emotion. It is my hope that the music on this CD will paint the picture of my favorite season and stir the broad range of emotion it brings including: watching the birds fly south in their grand formation with \"Autumn Flight\"; being wrapped up in the coolness of the night with \"Inside the Night\", the hint of sadness sometimes felt at the end of summer with \"Summer\'s Farewell\" and the vast vibrant colors in the evening sky at dusk with \"October Sky\". I hope you will enjoy.\"
What people are saying about Edge of October:
Dear Jean
I received an email from my friend in Portland today. I sent him a copy a few months back and at the time he said how much he enjoyed it. Today he writes: \"I was playing the Edge of October CD in my car on my day off. Very Nice! Jean Hilbert, when will you do the Heart of November?\"

Dear Jean
Your CD came in today\'s mail and I have played it several times already this afternoon. It is beautiful! I only hope I don\'t wear it out. The only other CD of yours I have is Heaven\'s Dance, do you have any others? Thank you so much for sending it pronto!

Dear Jean,
I play the Edge of October CD all the time, over and over again. I hope you keep composing and playing your beautiful music. Your music is as good as, and even better than the music we hear on TV. Thanks again!
Love, Eleanor
