Description

Hard-hitting, broody, moody, and with enough hooks to tear your face off.

Notes

Hailing from Newtown, Mid Wales, hard rock quartet Ex Nihilo have been making an impression on all who’ve encountered them. Front-man Alexander Worth, guitarist Daniel Cumber, bassist Will Mead and drummer Tom Hamer are all treading new territory, and making it their own. Fusing traditional bluesy rock with modern, darker tones and a hint of metal, they’ve delivered emotion-driven performances acr
oss the UK.

“Personally, it’s all about re-living the emotion of every song”, says Alex. “When I’m on stage I can’t help but dive into those feelings, however dark they may be. More than once I’ve had fans come and ask me if I held anything against them, simply on the basis that I looked so pissed off during the gig!”

Their upcoming album offers as much diversity as it does ferocity, with 11 genre-spanning tracks. From thrash-inspired ‘Scream', through the anthemic ‘Survive’, and all the way to stoner-rock influenced ‘Ocean’, there’s sure to be something on there for everyone. “We really don’t like to limit ourselves creatively”, Alex asserts, “Trying to pigeon-hole a song into a musical genre will only diminish from the original intent behind it. If it isn’t honest, if it doesn’t come from the heart, there’s no place for it. Or at least, no place that matters.”

But creating honest music comes at a price, as all members of the band are known perfectionists - a tough price to pay when you have four days to record an album.“ Our schedule was, quite frankly, ridiculous. Tensions were drawn pretty high at times, and I’m fairly certain that every one of us went a little bit crazy during the recording”, Alex recalls. “But we pulled each other out of it, and got back on the horse every time. Not only that, but we turned it around so that we had a blast. Living together during the process was fantastic – there was a strong atmosphere of brotherhood which meant we could all lean on each other when we needed to.”

“In the end what we really wanted to create was something we can look back on in ten years time and be proud of. And I believe that’s exactly what we’ve done.” They continue to perform across the UK, delighting and – in some cases – frightening audiences at every turn.

Ex Nihilo’s highly anticipated self-titled debut is set to drop on August 4th, 2012.
