Notes

Here is Why “In A Romantic Mood” is a True Collector's Item

“In A Romantic Mood” features great standards and a great performance by a great artist. These great jazz performances were recorded in the United States of America, Europe, and Africa & Scandinavia. Great singers and musicians, from various countries, participated in the production of this classic project. The album features smooth & jazzy interpretations of great music written by George and Ira Gershwin, Sammy Cahn, Matt Dennis and Ed Robinson. Complementary reviews were published in England's "Business Weekly,” a popular magazine from London, and the “British Airways Flight Magazine,” further distributed aboard British Airways International flights and in airports around the world.

Complements by celebrities who personally attended Ed's performances in Europe include; Quincy Jones, George Benson, Toots Tillman of Belgium, Isaac Hayes, actors, Samuel Jackson, Isabella Rossellini, and kate Winslett, to name a few.

The album begins with a Frank Sinatra favorite, "All The Way” a Sammy Chan & Jimmy Van Heusen composition. Another great song in this collection is titled, is the rare but beautiful ballad, “Everything Happens To Me,” written by Matt Dennis and Montgomery Adair, originally recorded by both Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra. Other classic standards included in this collection include the great Larry Conley & Willard Robinson song, “A Cottage For Sale,” “There will Never Be Another You,” by Mack Gordon & Henry Warren.

Song titled, "If Only," features the magnificent voices of two great international opera stars, Nancy Holliston and Diane Elias. You have to hear the voices for yourself to appreciate the exceptional beauty of sound. The combination of these magnificent voices produced a richness of tone heard only in the most celebrated Classical environment. We first met during the exchange of premier performances at the historic Nuremberg Opera House in downtown Nuremberg Germany, which was located next door to the place where I was performing.

Sincere appreciation is extended to the list of talented people who made this project "sing." The list begins with bassist Hubie Crawford (acoustic and electric bass), recording bassist with the great guitarist, Earl Klugh. Another super talent from the Bavarian region of Germany is drummer – percussionist, Bobby Bachinger, also heard on recordings with European artist, Sade. Bobby Franklin, of Detroit, USA, a multi-talented musician, Guitarist and drummer, heard on recordings with the late great Curtis Mayfield. A Special appearance by Jazz guitarist, Paul Weeden, of USA, former guitarist with the legendary Duke Ellington orchestra, added just the right touch to the great ballad, “Everything Happens To Me.” Other outstanding musical talents contributed their genius to this project included musicians from Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Hungary, Scandinavia & Mexico.

The final selection on the album, “Special” was positioned to indicate, the best was saved for last. There are no words to describe the power and majesty unleashed in the crescendo of this song. Accompanied by the famous Harmony Sisters of Finland, the international diversity of the orchestra created a powerful and sweeping ending appropriate for a standing ovation. Every musician and every singer was in rare "top form." We were very fortunate to have captured this monumental, once in a lifetime performance, on record.

One more special of this album is the dynamic duet performance by Ed and Moroccan musical genius, Abdessamad (Sammy). This power ballad titled, "I Forget Everything (Because You’re on My Mind)," written and arranged by Ed Robinson was recorded in English and French languages. The combination of the two languages are arranged in a fashion, similar to the communicative style of opera. As the song soars, it evolves into an exciting crescendo which ends on a single gentle note.

These are only a few reasons why the CD project titled "In A Romantic Mood" is a True Collectors Item!
