Notes
Born and raised in the Goretti Park area of New Orleans East, Edwinn “9ine” Henry learned at an early age to “let the good times roll!” At the tender age of 13, 9ine decided to pick up a pen and started writing raps as a hobby with his younger brother Carl and other neighborhood friends. His hobby soon became his passion and he hasn't looked back since. In 2002, an opportunity presented itself, so 9ine decided to move to Houston, Tx where he teamed up with mentor and cousin Thomas “V.I.T” Lakey to join the record label Through Hell And Back Productions, dropping his first mix tape Show Tyme. As a result 9ine's featured on singles for artists such as Nutt the Kidd and Joe Kane. Moreover, he performed at several sold out venues and won the prestigious King of the Mic Contest held at the infamous Hot Spot in Houston.
2005 was a pivotal year for 9ine. He decided to move back to Louisiana, settling in Natchitoches to spend time with his brothers and father before his father's passing. Dealing with the effects of Hurricane Katrina and the loss of his father, 9ine decided to channel all of his energy back into his music, eventually starting his own record label, Shake Em Up Records with partner V.I. T In 2011 9ine dropped the critically acclaimed East Bank Hank Volumes I and II for his growing fan base.
9ine has caught the attention of VH1 producers, Roc Nation executives and the likes of many others. Hard work and sheer talent, has paved the way to unimaginable opportunities. 9ine's hit single “Turning Lane” is featured on XXL Magazine’s Future of Music Volume 3 mix tape, as well as in the February 2012 edition of XXL Magazine. 9ine is currently in the studio working with some of today’s hottest up and coming music producers such as Moo Real, Seven Six, FLACO the Great, Prophecy and more, on his highly anticipated debut
LP entitled Almost Perfect slated for release Fall 2012.
9ine is leaving his mark on the world and in a major way!
