hazel virtue
After 4 years on leave of absence, the band that captured Athens moves to Charleston to soak up the sun. In the past they played to crowds of thousands in events like Music Midtown and Big Day Out in Atlanta, End of the Summer Roast in Charlotte; and played to capacity audiences in venues like the Chameleon Club and Georgia Theatre.
Today they are starting to pack houses in Charleston and several Southeastern towns; hazel is beginning an extensive spring and summer tour behind the new pop gem "the face and the shine". The album was produced by Alan Weatherhead of Sparklehorse at David Lowery's studio in Richmond, Va. Album and live reviews have been outstanding.
BILLBOARD MAGAZINE - hazel virtue combines pristine harmonies, muscular guitars, and pop-savvy hooks on its new CD "the face and the shine".
CHARLESTON CITY PAPER- Singer Eric Britt voted best male vocalist/musician for the last 3 years (2000-2002)
CHARLOTTE CREATIVE LOAFING- power pop shaded with just enough psychedelics and immaculate harmonies
CHARLESTON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA- "We listened to a cd featuring 3 of their tunes, and they were quite good.
*C.S.O. later scored and performed these songs with Eric and Mark at the Gaillard Auditorium in Charleston
ESP MAGAZINE(GREENSBORO, N.C.)- Remember the band that took Athens,Ga. by storm a couple of years ago, recording a terrific Cd and selling out clubs throughout the South?
Singer Eric Britt has an uncanny, almost magical
gift, injecting new blood and redirecting the new band's musical vision.
CHARLESTON FREE TIMES -
The amazing thing about this band is they have
been together less than a year, yet they play like
they've been together forever. You gotta see the
power behind these guys to believe it.
TRIAD STYLE (Winston Salem)- The new cd "the face and the shine" is a well-rounded mix of everything you'd ever want in modern rock band - insightful lyricism, danceable grooves, a bit of grunge guitar, and some sweet production.
