Description

Most of the brief “artifacts” on this album are actually creative byproducts of longer works. They tend to be ambient and repetitive rather than highly structured; many of them are microtonal. Think Moby, but more avant-garde rather than beat-oriented.

Notes

Over the years I have pursued many different directions in my work: I started out as a singer/songwriter in the 70’s, but in the 80’s I focused on orchestral and chamber music as well as musique concrète and other classic approaches to electronic music. In the early 90’s I brought beat-like poetry and microtonality into the mix, but then moved in a direction that was more song-based. Since then my work has become a synthesis of all of this. Throughout the decades, my projects have resulted in short studies, or musical artifacts, that never found a place in the larger works I produced. This album is a collection of these “artifacts” that I always felt were attractive and appealing, but that remained “orphans” nonetheless.
While my other albums call for a more focused and intent kind of listening, this can be approached in a more relaxed manner. My advice to the listener is to simply hit “random” and let it play.
