Description

Piano-based pop/rock heaven. Starlight Avenue, the debut album by Tim Harris, is laced with catchy melodies, rich harmonies and unique sounds capturing the likes of ELO, Coldplay and Ben Folds.

Notes

'Starlight Avenue,' the debut album by Tim Harris was released in May 2007 by 1979 Records. As a singer-songwriter, Harris wanted a big sound on the album. "I grew up listening to ELO and Supertramp and loved the way that these bands layered up their songs." Harris spent the early part of 2006 writing the songs for the record. "I'd stay up late at night banging around on the piano and once the songs had been written I wanted to find a producer who had a similar musical background." Producer David Carr (Taxiride, Antiskeptic and Paperadio) agreed to take on the project. Harris and Carr then set out to try something a bit different. "We decided we wanted to use all analogue effects and steer clear of the digital stuff. David was great in finding sounds I really liked. He'd then put them through all the old analogue effects units he's collected over the years." The result is a sound that is surprising for a singer-songwriter - a layered album with some big sounds, both modern and past.

Harris is currently preparing to record his second studio album which is expected for release in September 2009.
