Description

Indie Electronic Rock by multi-instrumentalist and song-crafter Galen Wade; featuring slinky beats, delicate guitars, screaming feedback and a booming underbelly; this is dense and mysterious sonic mojo in wild motion.

Notes

Composed, performed, recorded, and mixed in his home studio, Mad Chatter, amid the rolling Berkshire hills of Western Massachusetts, multi-instrumentalist and sound-crafter, Galen Wade has declared that this (trapped in amber and preserved through the recording medium) is the sound he has been dreaming of since he bought his first four-track recorder over 25 years ago. And what a wild carnival ride of sound it is! Most of the tracks here are instrumental, with the notable exceptions of the charmingly hypnotic, "Do That," and the relatively straight-laced (until it gets weird) cover of the Motown classic, "You've Really Got A Hold On Me," first recorded by Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, and later covered by The Beatles.
Styled a "producer's producer" by those in the know (just check out the mad love on his SoundCloud page), Galen has an uncanny knack for making his creations sound like the work of an entire band, not just some workstation exercise. "I can sing, and write a pretty mean pop tune, and you'll hear more of that from me in future," he says, "But this record was more about celebrating my deep and unending love of pure sound." Restless, creative, difficult to pigeonhole and individualistic to an absurd degree, these tunes are all over the map. "I tend to not recognize genres," Galen has said. Iconoclast, indeed. From the smooth and breezy bop of "If It Ain't Broke," to the ominous chug of "Storm Drain," to the slinky pimp-funk of "The Scuttlebutt," that persistent genre bursting boundary pushing is fully evident in this divers collection, in which there's never a dull moment.
Share the love! Expand your horizons! Trip out! Enjoy!
