Description

Rock/Indie/Pop/Power Pop

Notes

The Garden District is a band from New Orleans, Louisiana.
Call it rock, call it pop, call it emo, call it indie, call it alternative...call it post-punk-prep-core for all they care. No matter how you try to define it, one thing is certain: The Garden District’s brand of ruthless rock & roll will have you singing along by the third chorus.

Formed in 2005, the band has spent the past two years crafting an impressive arsenal of high-energy rock songs. From tongue-in-cheek diatribes and scathing indictments, to touching anthems and deeply personal insights on life and love...their lyrics run the gamut of human emotion while remaining intelligent and sincere. Musically led by a cutting dual-guitar attack, The Garden District fills each song with overlapping layers of dynamic intensity--a potent blend of robust crunch and bright shimmer. The rhythm section is relentless, persistent, and deliberate, giving structure and solidity to every driving beat. Using commanding melodies and frequent harmonies, the vocals never fail to deliver the hook, while managing to avoid the cliches of most top 40 radio rock songs.

This tactical approach to songwriting was enough to impress local rock heroes Tom Drummond of Better Than Ezra and Fred LeBlanc of Cowboy Mouth, so it was no suprise when both took turns behind the helm of The Garden District’s debut EP, So Much It Hurts. Drummond produced three tracks and LeBlanc earned production credit on another two. After adding 5 additional self-produced demos of new material, the 10-song EP provides solid evidence of the band’s growth in their short time together.

Taking their set list on the road, the band has been winning over audiences everywhere. From playing 6 shows at SXSW Music Festival in Austin over the past two years, to winning the Tenacious D Battle of the Bands at the House of Blues in New Orleans, to opening up for American Idol runner-up Bo Bice and pretty-boy rocker Teddy Geiger, The Garden District has been making a name for themselves. Quickly gaining several thousand online fans and over 30,000 song plays, the band has been ranked as the #1 unsigned rock band in Louisiana by Myspace.com and MTV2.

With the experience and advice of their mentors and some old-fashioned DIY ingenuity, The Garden District is spreading their infectious brand of rock and roll to anyone who will listen.
