Description
The Charlotte-based indie rock quartet introduces the next generation of independent music, blending elements of shoegaze, post-rock, and dream pop.
Notes
Garlic City is a collaboration composed of Brodie Cole, Bayley Courtland, Elliot Simpson, and Mark Eckert. They are based out of Charlotte, NC and released the debut LP, 'Minimalist' under 3rd.Estate in late 2014.
The album has a heavy focus on the philosophical thoughts, and observations of social injustices that the band (consisting of kids in their early-twenties) has encountered. 'Minimalist' is not what one would call an average album produced by a couple of guys in their twenties. Though it is easy to pick up on the writers' frustration with their underestimated age and place in the world around them, 'Minimalist' cleverly addresses and questions interesting philosophical, social, and psychological concepts.
The band offers an extremely wide variety of new and old sounds alike to the indie rock scene. Blending elements of shoegaze, post-rock, and lofi dream pop, Garlic City makes their 2014 debut release a must-listen musical concoction for any indie-rock enthusiast.
