Description
If you enjoy Christmas Carols in the setting of music of some of the masters, including Liszt, Chopin, Schumann, & others, this piano album is the perfect companion for a cold wintery evening.
Notes
Whether you wish to relax and listen to some Christmas Carols or curl up by the fire to the sound of piano music from the romantic era you’ll find Bethlehem Whisper to be an ideal companion.
Bethlehem Whisper is a piano album of Christmas Carols, in the setting of some of the masters. If you enjoy Christmas Carols, and you additionally appreciate the music of Liszt, Chopin, Schumann, Schubert, Sinding, Mendelssohn, and Brahms, hopefully you’ll find this CD to be the perfect album on a cold wintery evening.
The arrangements on this CD combine music from both genres. The end result: Christmas Carols that have been interwoven into classical settings, utilizing the harmonic structure and melodic flow of a specific classical number as the basis for each arrangement.
In some arrangements there is a very clear, yet frequent transition between the classical setting and the Christmas Carol, while in others it is much more subtle. This varied approach allows the listener to more fully appreciate the musical brilliance of each of the classical composers represented, as one then more fully comprehends what they were able to do with a simple theme and melody, when another basic melody (the carol) is integrated into that particular style.
Arranging these numbers and recording this CD has truly been a remarkable experience and journey. It has given me the opportunity to tap, ever so slightly, into the creativity of each of the composers that are represented on this CD. For me personally, incorporating some of their artistry into the arrangements has brought new life and freshness to each of these Christmas Carols. Hopefully it will do the same for you.
Sit back now and curl up with that mug of Hot Chocolate. . .
