Notes
Starting out in the early 90s as a pop rock student band, Glenturret by and by transformend into a folk rock act that has performend for many legendary Irish nights in and around Switzerland. On the side, the band has built up a long list of songs that are not directly relatetd to folk and which they enjoy putting up at their gigs outside the Irish scene. This side of Glenturret's creative work has found it's reflection in the album 'This is the News'. In the instrumental lineup the band resolved to stick with traditional elements like fiddle, harmonica and mandolin but also found a smooth way to weave in booming electric rock guitars or the soothing sound of a rhodes e-piano. It all summs up to a versatile collection of 11 catchy songs that never miss a little grain of folk rock but open wide to whatever musical or thematic influence the writers felt inclined to at the time. A demonstration of kaleidoscopic consistency.
