Description
Glitter Assassin is influenced by the cinematic textures of My Bloody Valentine, M83, Interpol, Slowdive and the straight ahead rock vibe of Placebo. Lyrically they exist on the fine line between retrospect, dreams and optimism.
Notes
Small hours cinematic actually started out as a comic book storyline set in a dark alternate universe. Each song was tied together by a common desire oriented theme. As the focus increased on the songwriting it became clear that the music had developed into something more than just a story line.
We were very inspired by the background music and rich sonic textures of the movie “Lost in Translation” and after working with numerous other bands as a session musician where often the goal was to layer a song to death, Glitter Assassin presented a new challenge by attempting to limit the number of tracks and instruments used in each song. All of the songs were written on a laptop using a minimal set up and less than 8 tracks. Many of the drums and sounds were created using iphone apps or software synths. No auto tune was used in the recording of Small Hours Cinematic.
