Description
Country easy-listening folk-style with 6 original songs including one about the Maritime mining disaster of 1992 - also Born a Canadian very popular in Canada and Australia . GARY JUST WON THE LONDON & DISTRICT SENIOR STAR COMPETITION ON JUNE 15, 2010.
Notes
This CD is Gary's best one yet. It contains 6 original songs written or co-written by Gary Boyle and reflects his
easy-listening, mature voice suited for people who want to actually hear the words and the music. This CD is orchestrated beautifully again by the producer and arranger, Earl Filsinger of Stratford, Ontario, along with the help of all the various musicians who participated in this project. Gary has just returned from Australia's largest country music festival, where he performed as part of a concert at the Tamworth Town Hall and also with one of the great balladeers Graham Rodger. Gary was very well received at both of these sold-out venues. His songs reflect Gary's life in alot of ways especially the one entitled The River and Me since Gary grew up near the Thames River in London, Ontario and spent alot of his boyhood days there. That song has been chosen as a theme song for the River Project for the City of London recently. See London Free Press newspaper article of May 10, 2008 and video of Gary singing along the riverfront in London. Gary's wife Karen wrote the words to Song #6, 26 Good Workin' Boys which is about the Westray Mine Disaster in the Maritimes in 1992 where 26 miners died. The music on this CD is amazing - listen to the fiddle by Don Reed (who plays with the likes of Dwight Yoakam, Merle Haggard.)The flute on the Irish folk song Fields of Athenry is also a very nice touch. Gary also included a couple of Slim Dusty songs (the great Australian balladeer) entitled Camooweal and Lights on the Hill. See below for schedule of events.
